Kok Hong and Sze Ye, two police inspectors were united in marriage in a well thought out cinema themed wedding. Their wedding banquet was held at Yong Sheng Banquet Hall Muar. Yong Sheng is actually a famous confectionery manufacturer in Muar. The shop is located on the ground floor where guests to the reception can drop in to look-see and buy some yummy snacks. Above it on the first floor is the banquet hall. The entrance was decorated with movie posters, a theater number, curtain, lights just like how a cinema would look like.
Downstairs is where Yong Sheng Confectionery is. The banquet hall is above it. |

This movie is “Coming Soon”. Nice! |
Each table has a label. You need a ticket to get into the movie theater… A nice touch. |
The columnless hall is spacious and comfortable. There were moving heads with pattern and color filters projected luminous stars around the hall creating a delightful ambiance. Long photo frames with the couple pre-wedding shots are lined up alongside the red carpet which has been elevated. The couple’s march-in was preceded by the parents and then their counterparts from the police force in their ceremonial uniforms, carrying a sword.

Cake cutting by the police officers. haha. |
Yong Sheng Hall does not provide food, so getting an external caterer is necessary. I would say the dishes prepared by the caterer of the day Seng Kee Catering, were alright. The combination platter entree was tasty. Opting for an abalone, dried seafood soup instead of the usual shark fin soup, the taste did not blend in quite well coming from these expensive ingredients. The beef stew is a rare wedding dish, not commonly served in weddings at the Klang Valley.
