The Majestic Theatre is definitely an unique venue for weddings. This refurbished theatre has a modern industrial look, with a touch of design elements of the past, is perfect for events such as film screenings, weddings, performances, exhibitions and others. There are 2 different spaces within Majestic Theatre which can cater for small intimate gatherings as well as larger scale events such as wedding dinners. The theater is located at the heart of George Town, within the UNESCO Heritage site. Built in 1929, Majestic Theatre (previously know as Shanghai Sound Theatre) was the first cinema in Penang to screen Chinese “talkies” (films with sound instead of silent).
Facilities include Air-conditioning, Green Room, Projector and Screen, Backstage Area, AV System, VIP Box. There is limited street parking outside Majestic Theatre. However, there are several private car parks located nearby within walking distance. Great event for wedding. Great food great music and sound system. Great air conditioning. No generous parking only roadside. Often have to park a few streets away. Feb 2017 Overall a pleasant experience. The toilets were clean (always a plus!), and it’s located conveniently close to a lot of nice food stalls in Penang. Pretty good place to host an event. |
