The Nattukottai Chettiar Temple also known as Arulmigu Sri Thandayuthapani Temple is probably the most popular Hindu temple in Penang. It is a leading tourist attraction attracting approximately 500,000 people for the Thaipusam festival annually. Nattukkottai consists of two words, “nattu” and “kottai”, which means “country forts”. The Chettiar community who built this temple was a bunch of astute businessmen and moneylenders who were excellent in managing wealth.
This chokkatan (chequered) designed temple is an amazing venue for organizing a Hindu wedding ceremony in Penang.
