Suffolk House Penang’s Garden Wedding

The original Suffolk House served as Francis Light’s residence and has been described as a simple Anglo-Indian Garden House style of timber and attap construction, built within his pepper estate called Suffolk. Originally built in the early 1800s, this Georgian Mansion is an excellent venue for parties and weddings. Soak up its unique atmosphere and interior, refurnished with original Anglo-Indian antiques.

Having an efficient and helpful person-in-charge who is thorough definitely helps. Suffolk House’s event Manager takes note of all the details which have been discussed and executes them. The food served during weddings is delicious, very important aspect for fellow Penangnites. While its ambiance is absolutely breathtaking, the wedding package price is not cheap! It’s a remarkable venue to
host an elegant and personalized Western-style wedding nonetheless.

Attended a wedding dinner here. The menu was varied & interesting. Lovely setting foe an intimate dinner party. The service could be improved as guests arrived during the rain but the restaurant staff were unprepared with umbrellas and there could have been better signage to direct guests.

Was here for a wedding. Pretty nice colonial style house with a restaurant upstairs. They also serve afternoon tea downstairs. Service may vary.

Our family celebrated a wedding at Suffolk House for about 85 guests in early April. The wedding ceremony and exchange of vows was held downstairs in the Marble Hall, pre dinner drinks and canapes were served in the rear garden, the wedding dinner was served upstairs in the air-conditioned ballroom and a live band and dancing was organised on the upstairs back verandah near the bar. It all worked beautifully, and Maiane and her Suffolk House staff were very attentive and efficient. During the planning stages, Gordon gave us lots of good ideas and the the multi course western menu he produced was excellent and presented beautifully. I have lived in Malaysia and Singapore for many years and I have not yet come across a hotel or function venue which would have exceeded the standard produced by Gordon and his staff for this number of people. My family and the bride and groom were delighted with the venue for a wonderful wedding celebration.
