Wedding Emcee – Entertainment in a Package

A wedding emcee interacts with the guests, coordinates the event and entertains. Each of them has special talents which could come in handy for your wedding entertainment purpose. Just discuss it over with the emcee, some of the words, songs or activities can be personalized to your wedding.
1. Emcee or MC (Master of Ceremony) and Coordinator
The emcee greets, introduces the bride and groom, order of events and interacts with the wedding guests. She or he also usually oversees the event and liaises with the banquet manager to ensure things run smoothly.  A good wedding emcee can move the crowd and keep them engaged to the flow of the event. Shiang Peng (Champagne) is natural in connecting with the audience. To captivate the crowd’s attention, she attunes and assesses what interest them, then adapts the style to cater to different groups. It is the combination of vigorous intonation, facial expression and witty words that draw the audience attention.
Champagne is natural in connecting with people, has a very pleasant voice.
Champagne hosted the wedding in English and Mandarin. She also told the love story of the couple how they met in Korea.

2. Singer

Energetic Cecilia Yen Lin is such a natural entertainer. She can sing very well. Interaction with the crowd is honest and candid, with well wishes and meaningful songs to deliver a message. Just play the minus-one and the emcee can entertain the guests with a few nice songs without the band.

3. Entertainer/ Stand-up Comedy/ Games

It is important to strike a balance between jokes, games, and oration. Champagne is able to keep her audience entertained thanks to her various talents; she can sing. She is charismatic, funny and also a voice-over talent.
Desmond Ting is super hilarious, spontaneous and a great entertainer. I
would highly recommend Desmond if most of your guests could understand
Chinese. For example, he included a game that involved everyone
in the audience. Each table is given a task to collect a few items such
as a Samsung handphone, a driver’s license, a man’s belt, a high heel
shoe… and has to bring the collectibles to the stage by a male and a
female. The four pairs who got to the stage first would get an ang pow
(red packet) from the bride & groom. They then had to perform a
dance with the accompanied music of cha-cha, twist, etc. The loudness of
the audience applause would determine who wins the grand prize. It is a fun arrangement where everyone can have a good laugh. The way Desmond
interacts with people is effortless, he manages to set off everyone’s
sporting self when he asks them questions. His choice of words is
witty and most of the time comical. He speaks mostly in Cantonese/ Chinese and some English.
A popular wedding game is the Shoe Game:
Place two chairs back to back on the stage. Bride sits on one chair and the groom sits on the other. Then they take off their shoes and switch one shoe with the partner. Each should have two different shoes in his/her hands. The emcee then asks some questions, each question should start with “Who…?,” as in “Who is the pickier eater?,” or “Who was the first to admit their love?” The bride will raise the groom’s shoe if it describes him and her own shoe if it represents hers. The groom should do the same. The trick is that she can’t see her spouse, so she’ll have no idea if he is answering the same way she is—although she’ll probably be able to tell by the guests’ reactions.

4. Poetry Recitation/ Wedding Readings
Desmond recites well wish verses in a poetic way to the couple. He also wishes them the best of  health, love, abundance, fertility… all the words that must be uttered on a Chinese wedding. An innovation would be to do one in English.

Here’s a lighthearted writing about love by Albert Einstein
Gravitation
cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. How on earth can
you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological
phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it
seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems
like a minute. That’s relativity.

Extracted from “Falling in love is like owning a dog,” by Taylor Mali
First of all, it’s a big responsibility,
So think long and hard before deciding on love.
On the other hand, love gives you a sense of security:
On cold nights, love is warm.
It lies between you and lives and breathes
and makes funny noises.
Love wakes you up all hours of the night with its needs.
It needs to be fed so it will grow and stay healthy.

Love doesn’t like being left alone for long.
But come home and love is always happy to see you.
It may break a few things accidentally in its passion for life,
but you can never be mad at love for long.
Is love good all the time? No! No!
Love makes messes.
Love leaves you little surprises here and there.
Love needs lots of cleaning up after.
Sometimes you just want to get love fixed.
Sometimes you want to roll up a piece of newspaper
and swat love on the nose,
not so much to cause pain,
just to let love know Don’t you ever do that again!

Sometimes love just wants to go for a nice long walk.
Because love loves exercise.
It runs you around the block and leaves you panting.
It pulls you in several different directions at once,
or winds around and around you
until you’re all wound up and can’t move.

Throw things away and love will bring them back,
again, and again, and again.
But most of all, love needs love, lots of it.
And in return, love loves you and never stops.
