Wedding package prices in 2017:
1. Modern Luxe – The Westin KL | (RM2399(lunch). RM2988-3188(dinner) nett per table) Chinese/ fusion dishes to choose from | Capacity: 450 pax.
Finding a car park is not a problem as the hotel has its own parking bays. Take the lift up to Level 2 to be greeted by friendly staffs, with pre-dinner cocktail/ canapes served at the unique foyer followed by the wedding reception in the ballroom. Complete with hand-blown crystal chandeliers, the beautiful ballroom is modern and cozy, with no pillars obstructing views.
To create that kind of coziness and romantic atmosphere, the lighting plays an important role. The lights pointing to the guests table is illuminated after the first dish is served with special effects, music and choreography by the servers. Their fusion dishes are interesting, very appetizing, and well presented. Westin provides good banqueting service, is accommodating to the customer’s decorating needs and flexible for example allowing their customers to bring in their own desserts for the cocktail session.

REVIEWS of The Westin Weddings
May 2017: We had our wedding in Westin in June’16 and it was a beautiful setting. There was no pillar in the ballroom obstructing views and it could accommodate a good 30 tables and a dance floor. The bridal suite we got was also very spacious and we were very happy with the room and assistance provided for our wedding. The hostess serving the main table was very attentive to our needs and even volunteered to send up the food that we didn’t manage to eat to our hotel room so that we could have them for supper. However our guests had provided feedback after the dinner that they had difficulties getting services. Nevertheless hotel was accommodating to our decorating needs and was kind enough to let us bring in our own desserts for the cocktail session.
Jun 2014: I like the minimisation style of the hotel lobby. This is the foyer of the ballroom, the downside of the foyer is that we will need to share it with another function room (if there’s a function happens on our wedding day). I think it is fine because they will only use up a small part of the space, which we will not be interrupted because the foyer is huge anyway. The best part of the ballroom is that we don’t need any dividers and I can do a straight grand entrance instead of a L shape yay! Another good thing about Westin is the fusion menu which looks quite interesting.
2. Lavish Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur
from RM2901 (Malay). RM3134 – RM3606 (Chinese or Western) nett per table | Capacity: 1800 pax.
Weddings at Mandarin Oriental KL is not an affair for a commoner so to speak. The hotel’s Grand Ballroom and Diamond Ballroom, both refurbished in 2015, Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur can accommodate events big and small. Service is fantastic and staff very attentive, friendly and warm.

3. Glittery Grand Hyatt KL
RM3134 – RM3833 nett per table | Capacity: 700 pax
The hotel will prepare a menu that suits your unique tastes. The Grand Ballroom is designed oval in shape and pillar free with brilliant crystal chandeliers that blanket the entire ceiling. The circular curved architecture exudes a softer ambience. Your guests can dine romantically under the stars. It is the best ballroom in town in my opinion.

Get ready to be mesmerized by the great ambiance of the newly renovated (in 2017) classic and pillarless Grand Ballroom with three crystal chandeliers adorning its ceiling and a huge space. The organizers are very helpful in ensuring a wonderful wedding function for the couple. Food is impeccable. Some of the staffs may require more training maybe.

REVIEWS of Shangri-La Weddings
Aug 2016: Most ideal for wedding dinners, good location, ballroom that fits 1000 pax, impeccable food! Servicing staff needs more training, mostly foreign waiting staff, didn’t quite understand English very well. Overall, still the best wedding venue
5. Doubletree by Hilton KL
from – Chinese/ Western: RM2688. Malay: RM2088. Indian: RM2188 nett per table. Capacity: 650 pax.
Conveniently located in the heart of KL and connected to The Intermark Shopping Mall, Doubletree by Hilton KL is a popular wedding venue. The Grand Ballroom, located on level 10, features a 8-metre-high ceiling, advanced audio visual system including built-in ceiling speakers, a wireless projection system, live streaming capability and state-of-the art lighting presentation. Some guests don’t like the escalators which are right in front of the ballroom entrance. Kudos to Chef David and team on the food. Good reviews on the taste of the food.
REVIEWS of Doubletree by Hilton
Oct 2016: Doubletree Hilton, kudos to you on the food.. Thank you Chef David.. everything came in warm, and reviews were good on the taste of the food… service was also good!
Jul 2016: Few catering staffs were around to serve drinks at the pre-dinner cock tail. The service was worse after being seated…no catering service personnel was around to serve any drink (not even soft drinks or chinese tea) for the first half hour before the dinner event!

5 Star Hotels in KL | Pros and Cons |
Grand Hyatt KL 700 pax | Pro: Fantastic silver-ish lights and design on the ceiling, romantic LED lighting, artistic table scape, unique oval shape ballroom. Con: Pricey |
Westin KL 450 pax | Pro: Artistic lights (not traditional chandelier lights), high ceiling, no pillar and big stage, straight couple march-in (not L shape), strategic location for hotel guests, fusion menu. |
Doubletree by Hilton KL 650 pax | Pro: High ceiling, big ballroom with silver wall, romantic LED lighting, no pillar, overseeing the pool where you can have your ROM, package includes adequate and nice floral arrangement, good food Con: Cocktail area is a bit too small, needs minimum of 35 tables |
JW Marriot Hotel, KL 770 pax | Pro: High ceiling, big ballroom to accommodate bigger crowd, strategic for guests Con: No romantic LED lights (only warm yellow lights), ballroom deco is a bit old-styled |
Majestic hotel KL Sentral 1200 pax | Pro: Big ballroom to accommodate up to 100 tables, High ceiling with no pillar, comes with nice floral arrangement, European-style ballroom with chandelier, heritage building. Con: Minimum spending required, purple carpet colour, location is out of the city |
Intercontinental KL 800 pax | Pro: High ceiling with no pillar, no minimum table requirement, spacious cocktail area, newly refurnished ball room Con: No romantic LED lights (only yellow warm lights), ballroom wall is a bit woody and too yellowish, small budget for floral arrangement (which means you need to top up more for nicer floral deco) |
Shangri-La KL 1440 pax | Pro: If you are a Golden circle member- use it to earn points, good food Con: Carpet colour is a bit off (a mixture of green and red), ballroom deco is old-schooled |
Ritz Carlton Hotel KL 330 pax | Pro: Friendly wedding manager, suitable for small wedding, no min table requirement, spacious cocktail area, strategic location, very classy, butler style service with individual portion served. Con: Low ceiling with pillar, small ballroom, yellow ballroom wall, small stage |
Le Meridien KL Sentral 400 pax | Pro: Nice and small ballroom, cosy venue for a small wedding (only 32 tables) Con: Too small to accommodate a big crowd |
Mandarin Oriental KL 1800 pax | Pro: Strategic location, big hall for larger crowd, nice ballroom deco, excellent service Con: Min spend required |
Hilton KL Sentral 1100 pax | Pro: Big hall, high ceiling with no pillar, no minimum table requirement Con: Pricey, hall is kind of connected to Le Meridien ballroom (may have 2 weddings at one day) |
Sheraton Imperial KL 550 pax | Pro: Unique and good Asian/Western food. Great chef, person in charge is attentive. The hotel lobby is grand and big. Con: There’s too much wood in the interior. The ballroom looks a bit old. |
Renaissance KL 750 pax | Pro: Grand staircase, high ceiling, spacious European style ballroom Con: Average food |
Conclusion: The Westin KL offers a balance of everything in a package in my opinion; modern gorgeous ballroom with hi-tech, color changing ambient lighting, very interesting menu of Asian and Western flavors with valuable ingredients to select from, creative presentation to boost, attractive complimentary items that come in the package, good service and positive reviews with price factored in. However if you have a long guest list, and prefer more classic ballroom design, then go for Mandarin Oriental, Renaissance, Shangri-La or The Majestic KL for a colonial or old English style wedding. Top notch services from the Mandarin Oriental wedding team btw. For the most romantic and best ambiance, Grand Hyatt KL is at the top the list. Shangri-La and Doubletree Hilton offer specialized menus of Malay, Indian, Chinese and Western fares.
