Sri Kandaswamy Kovil (Koil/ Temple) in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur also known as Scott Road Temple, is a Saivite (A branch of Hinduism that worships Shiva/ Siva as the supreme being) temple for the Ceylon Hindu Community, founded in 1902. The Kalamandapam or Kala Hall which is just next to the temple, is used hold wedding ceremonies and other events. The hall has been upgraded over the years and has now been fully air conditioned to accommodate current needs.
The temple’s mind inspiring architecture and sculptural works of lofty towers, beautiful vimanas (mythological flying machines described in Hindu texts and Sanskrit epics) bearing golden domes, well decorated halls, elegant and majestic pillars instill devotion in one’s mind. It is very well-managed and beautiful, attracting many tourists. The Temple is located at Scott Road or ‘Jalan Scott’, has been remapped to Jalan Tebing.
