You may have read the news that the hotel‘s lease has expired end of 2009 and was closed. Fyi, Carcosa Seri Negara hotel is still open to the public. This hotel has two different mansions, Carcosa Mansion and Seri Negara Mansion. Carcosa Mansion was closed down for renovation since Dec 2009 until further notice, while Seri Negara Mansion, where there are 5 suites with a restaurant and few function rooms, is still available. It was once the residence of the first Resident-General to the federated Malay States, Sir Frank Swettenham. Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan, Trengganu, and Johore were outside the Federation administration at that time. If you could recall the facts…When was the last time you studied the history of Malaysia?
To-be-married couples pick this place because of it’s unique Victorian design. You can dress up prettily and post in a setup and surrounding with an English influence.

Fine interior design with magnificent chandelier |
You can opt for the marquee to be set on the lawn which accommodates up to 350 guests. It’s a different experience when you have your wedding at the compound of a historical bungalow. The hotel interior design is one of the finest. I love the grand reception room with the magnificent chandelier. As “raja or permaisuri sehari”, you will be the royalties to be served by others in an expensive “palace”. British couple Dave and Keira came all the way with their families and friends to Malaysia’s Carcosa Seri Negara to hold their wedding: dave-and-keira.
I personally think Malaysia’s hot and humid weather is not a suitable for garden wedding. If it doesn’t shine, the bride and groom will be worried about downpour that will ruin the ceremony. Outdoor events also require the arrangement of cooling system, misting fan, stage/ banquet setup, mosquito repellent, etc. I sweated off my makeup under the evening sun at my sis wedding, the “puteri lilin” in me is calling me to forgo the idea of a garden wedding even though it’s very romantic.

Jan 2013 We had a garden wedding at Seri Negara in December and it worked beautifully. The organiser Vanessa was thorough and responded to our requests on time. It is recommended to upgrade to the Ledang Room as the other room would be too small, unless you’re having a very small event. We recommend too that you organise a marquee in case the monsoon turns up. The food was very good and the rooms upstairs were quite grand. Considering the special memories it left us it was well worth the cost and if you’re getting married in KL I’d strongly recommend you check it out. | |
Dec 2011 The garden wedding was a memorable one. Everyone was dressed up for the occasion. We were so happy for them and it was a beautiful garden wedding. There is no other place like Carcosa Seri Negara for a grand perfect garden wedding in Kuala Lumpur. |
