We decided to have our wedding reception at The Grand Millenium as we’d been to many other hotels, and couldn’t find any other which had a ballroom as cosy, and as perfect for our requirements. The wedding went absolutely wonderfully well, with many thanks to the manager Francis Kek, who was not only so accommodating to all of our requests but whom we felt, actually put in the effort and time to make our wedding a wonderful occasion. He was available to answer our questions nearly always (only a text message away) and definitely pulled out all the stops (and went the extra many miles) to make things go smoothly on the day. But enough about that. We also received the Honeymoon Suite (which is perhaps the Executive Suites?) on the 11th Floor as part of our package, and the room was one of the nicest I’d stayed in in KL. The beds were indescribably comfortable, there was a fruit basket with all sorts of local fruits, and a whole chocolate cake (a first!) for our consumption. The bathroom was almost as big as the room (and there was also a separate toilet in the lounge area) with marbled walls and floors, and lovely rose petals strewn for effect. Back to the wedding, as I want to talk about the food. We had our food tasting at Zing (the Chinese restaurant in the hotel), and the quality and taste of the food served there surpassed that of many top Chinese restaurants in town. For a hotel, the food here is truly of high standards. It felt as though each morsel had been hand-crafted by the chef before being brought out, and the presentation of the food was second to none. 2 items which we sampled which were outstanding were the lamb chops (not sure if that was from Zing, or the Western restaurant) and the steamed cod. Even talking about it is making me want to eat it again. To conclude, the location is probably what makes most people choose to stay at The Grand Millenium (next to Pavillion and all the other big malls in KL, with Bukit Bintang Monorail very close by), but having had the pleasure of having our wedding there and dealing with all the staff (again, another applaud to all the staff for amazing, truly can’t-be-beaten service), I must say we’ve now found many, many other reasons to recommend The Grand Millenium to anyone who’ll ask.
